More and more often, the art and rescue worlds collide in an effort to raise awareness and promote adoption. Photographer Sophie Gamand posted this series of dogs caught mid-bath (via Yahoo Shine). It turns out she does about half of her work for the Sato Project, photographing dogs at shelters in New York. She says of the neglected dogs, "...if you offer a kind hand, they still wag their tails and come to you with an open heart."

Chewie definitely shares her DNA with these satos. After almost ten years she still shakes nervously before (and during) a bath, but afterward romps around the apartment in frisky delight, knowing she is clean and loved.
