Books | Hyperbole and a Half.

Allie Brosh's brilliant blog, Hyperbole and a Half, is a book! Published this fall, it immediately hit the bestseller lists and sent reviewers into a gushing frenzy. Blog-to-books are notoriously tough, but this lives up to the hype. The content is just that good. Even though the book repurposes many of Allie's most popular blog posts, her unique voice and hilariously simple illustrations are even more winning on the page. Her essays on depression are unbelievably insightful and hit home in a way that makes you want to press the book into friends' hands knowingly, saying, "read this, trust me." That's what sells books.

Anyway, the book also includes some of my favorite essays about Allie's dogs, including one called, simply, Dog. This definitely makes the list of books I wish I'd acquired and edited, but I'm just as happy to own it and enjoy its success as a reader. And I hope Allie keeps blogging, too.
