Early Super Bowl Win for Pups!

Just when I was starting to get excited about this year's Puppy Bowl (!), I saw GoDaddy's upcoming Super Bowl commercial, released today. Ugh. It's obviously a poke at last year's Budweiser "Puppy Love" spot, which earnestly featured a sweet adoptable Lab pup and his friendship with a Clydesdale.
I can take a joke, but we don't need another reason to encourage people to buy dogs online or start up their own puppy mills in their backyards. Or treat dogs like things (witness the footage of this guy abusing his Doberman puppy when he thinks no one's watching).

It's encouraging to see the immediate backlash online (dog lovers are a vocal bunch! yeah!) and the great news is that as of tonight, they've pulled the commercial! The CEO of GoDaddy tweeted:
Thank you @animalrescuers for the candid feedback. What should have been a fun and funny ad clearly missed the mark and we will not air it.
Very proud of the rescue community for its swift and effective response. Looking forward to both the Puppy AND Super Bowl festivities!
